Fargo Marathon 2016: The beards are back in town

Image
I do not think I had posted bearded Fargo Marathon participants since before Duck Dynasty arrived on the scene. This year I saw much evidence of the that style of beard which Willie, Jase, Phil, and Si have upon their faces. But for starters, it appears Hagrid of Harry Potter fame was an entrant in the half marathon. This marathoner is putting it all on the line at mile 21. This beard resembles Jase's beard. Just put a stocking hat on this guy and some shades and you got Jason Robertson running a marathon- which he will probably never do. Hanging in This is probably the best kept beard of the bunch. It almost looks like it was just attached to his face this morning. Not sure how to categorize it. Maybe a little Grizzly Adams a la Dan Haggerty . Party on Griz Our final runner knows how to wear the beard in style while running. The headband, the sunglasses, the track top- this all screams "don't mess with me, I'll run circles aroun...

Hey dude, where is my ugly online ads?!

Image
The ad agencies are still churning out head turners online in 2012. Let's look at few recent releases to the nets that will make you gasp or ponder "is this a little weird for advertising a mortgage?" Well, it looks like the market is really booming for unkept facial hair. The bearded guy here has a twinge of friendly creep vibe. This could be Brad Pitt in a few years if he kept his crazy beard going. But wait! We could be getting ripped off because we don't do the ridiculously easy trick! I have wondered how long they can keep using that line. They are selling just about everything by referring to this one trick which solves all our health, mortgage, and insurance problems. In our next ad we have a fine moustache a la Sam Elliott . This is another one of those changing image to pencil illustration ones so it gets kind of creepy. And of note, the Government is actually providing some relief to homeowners- in the form of a settlement with "Big Banks" ...

Fargo Marathon 2011 - the beards ride into July

Image
It has been a sparse July. Not much time to post things with much going on in my wonderfully delicious life. But here we bring you Marathon in July- more Fargo Marathon beard spottings. Below we have a very real Colorado goatee surrounded by a multitude of women. The Colorado goatee is also bold enough to sport a head band Next we got a rare specimen of the almost ducktail. It is a bit blurry since I almost missed this guy. Some may classify this as the common short boxed beard but the slight point at the chin puts it in the ducktail category. Next a traditional goatee or is it? It might be an attempted balbo. He certainly takes headbanding to a new level. Here we have the envious chin curtain. Mr. Red Shirt is certainly impressed since this guy goes on to pass him up and leave him in the dust all because of the beard. We also get a bonus shirtless man and a dew rag enthusiast. Now finally, the old dutch, and a red one with a yellow headband to boot. [Also next to hi...

Fargo Marathon 2011: The beard rides again

Image
We continue our look at the beards of the Fargo Marathon. I have looked closely at each and attempted to identify the style but often it defies style or is just the plain old short boxed beard. Let's take a look at the beards shall we? Headband, saved head, and a Vandyke. His T-Shirt suggests he should have worn flannel and wielded an ax. Maybe next time.  Here we double your pleasure with 2 beards. This happened very little during the race. Beards were more scattered and did not congregate . Both of these are the short boxed style. The sunglassed man looks ready to eat the race up at a nonchalant pace.  Here's a chin curtain with stash and shirtless guy. Plus all are envious of the beards whch propelling the man forward at a new pace.

Fargo Marathon 2011: A beard, Elvis, and Superman

Image
Another bearded guy without a shirt and red shoes. Not sure what to entitle this one. Perhaps he could be called gentleman barbarian.   Nearby, Elvis serenades the runners like he only knows how. Not many spectators were nearby. Not sure if it was just the oddity of being near Elvis that kept them away or a perturbed dislike for jumpsuits. Well, a few moments later another oddity runs by.  It's a bird, it's a plane- it's a runner dressed as Superman. Not many costumed runners this year but this is one of them. We had Supergirl one year so it makes sense that Superman would show up sometime. As Superman trotted by, Elvis stopped singing and yelled to him- "Hey, you're not real. I'm real." It was hilarious.

Fargo Marathon 2011: Let the beard do the running

Image
I wonder if Dick Beardsley ever had a beard? Our first beard tonight includes a bonus wave. This fellow is sporting a very chivalrous beard. I wouldn't be surprised if this fellow is a knight and pondered before the race whether to wear his sword in order to slay a dragon that may find itself onto the course. Although he opted for more "running potions" to carry him through until the end.  Oh and there's a bonus wave. The next guy sped by I had a hard time identifying the beard. It is a good and fast one.  This is one I call the full on Ron Gardenhire. It also features a bonus argyle sock. This guy and his beard are enjoying a leisurely run through south Fargo eagerly awaiting a Cuban cigar at the finish. Burns, a Goatee with stach not connected, no shirt. Enough said.
